Transforming Data into Safety Insights
We always love working with local Des Moines clients, so when our friends over at MākuSafe needed a dashboard refresh, we were excited to partner with them. The MākuSafe solution combines innovative wearable technology with a robust safety management software plaform—MākuSmart. MākuSafe was founded in 2016 with the mission to improve worker health, safety, and productivity while reducing incidents and mitigating workplace hazards and risk exposure.
MākuSafe has been running a pilot program over the last few years, collecting plenty of feedback and direction from their early-adopting customers. Safety managers loved the workforce data and insights at their fingertips, but were creating their own patterns for recording hazards and tracking their status. The goal of this project was to reimagine a dashboard that empowered safety managers to have a complete, robust, and intuitive workflow for managing a facility.
Rapid Iteration for Faster Success
Understanding the daily workflow safety managers go through was critical to redesigning an experience that would best serve them.
By providing “quick and dirty” sketches, meeting up to twice a week, and having interim communication lines via Slack, we soon arrived at a final concept for the dashboard workflow and new hazard tracking features.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
After the initial design was complete, we took it through several rounds of refinement, gathering feedback from MākuSafe stakeholders, as well as safety managers from facilities in the MākuSafe pilot program.
When we arrived to the final iteration, it was time to implement—and time was of the essence. We Write Code supplied frontend Angular components ready to accept data, meanwhile MākuSafe’s internal team followed closely to connect up the API endpoints.
Final Thoughts and Redesign Results
By working together as a single unit throughout the entire process, we were able to quickly bring the MākuSmart 2.0 dashboard from conception to production.
Pilot testers were excited to get their hands on the new dashboard, stakeholders are excited, and it marks a major step forward for MākuSafe.
