Mike Clancy Joins We Write Code as Director of AI Adoption and Enablement
Engineer and technical leader returns to expand WWC's applied AI practice across industries and business functions.
DES MOINES, Iowa, September 3, 2026. WWC (We Write Code) today announced the appointment of Mike Clancy as Director of AI Adoption and Enablement. In the newly created role, Clancy will lead WWC's work helping organizations identify the AI opportunities worth pursuing, prepare their people and operations to adopt them, and implement practical AI across products, workflows, and decision-making. He will also establish the standards governing how WWC's own teams evaluate, build and use AI.
The role responds to a pattern WWC sees across its client base. Organizations across sectors are under pressure to implement and adopt AI, and the noise makes it difficult to separate a real opportunity from a convincing demonstration. WWC sees many of them moving faster than they are building the judgment to tell the difference, or the practices needed to verify and sustain what AI produces once it is running.
Clancy returns to WWC, where he began his career in software. He joins from a similar software firm, where he served as a professional software consultant and worked as a technical coach embedded within financial and manufacturing institutions, helping its teams modernize legacy applications and migrations.
Clancy spent nine years in education before entering the software industry. Clancy initially joined as a junior web developer and remained for nearly six years, advancing to full-stack engineer with a specialty in cloud infrastructure. His subsequent tenure coincided with the emergence of agentic coding tools and required him to adopt and teach those tools concurrently. He speaks regularly within Iowa's AI community on applied AI and agentic development.

WWC's AI practice integrates three pillars: Strategy & Enablement (governance, training, and change management), Implementation (custom AI agents, automated workflows, and knowledge systems), and AI-ready data infrastructure.
