As a Software Developer at We Write Code, you’ll find yourself working on the technical aspects of a project in a modern and nimble ecosystem. In holding this position, you will be expected to stick to your commitments and deliver quality solutions on time. You will write amazing code that meets the requirements, test the $%!# out of your changes, and you will commit to source control with a vengeance. You also know how to work smarter—integrating AI tools into your daily workflow to optimize your development process, brainstorm solutions, and accelerate delivery.You will also join in many celebrations in honor of the team’s accomplishments – as well as your own.

We Write Code is constantly working on a variety of projects that allow you to put your expertise to work, while continuously adding to your developer tool belt. These are the most important things for you to bring to the table:

  • 4+ years experience with Java, .Net, PHP, or Python.
  • 1+ years project experience doing front-end development with JavaScript frameworks (i.e. Angular, React).
  • A pragmatic approach to daily AI utilization (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) to optimize your coding workflow, speed up documentation, or troubleshoot complex issues.
  • The ability to tackle complex problems.
  • Solid understanding of SQL / Database querying techniques.
  • Source control management (i.e. Git).

You’ll get extra points if you have the following:

  • Hands-on AWS or Azure experience.
  • Mobile Development Experience.
  • Experience building applications that integrate AI/LLM features or APIs.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and practices.
  • Experience consuming or designing RESTful APIs.
  • A unique hobby.

Location and Hours:

This is a full-time, hybrid position in Des Moines, Iowa working in the office a minimum of two days a week. There are no overqualified candidates. We look forward to speaking with you about this great opportunity.
